Men's Retreat

Camp Wooten

March 28 - 30, 2008

This year’s theme is Living with Skill in a Dangerous World. By "dangerous" we mean that the cost of foolishness per "cubic second" can be very high. In a moment of foolishness, a man can destroy his life, lose his marriage, alienate his children, or lose his job by the careless use of his words.

Drawn by foolish desires for instant material gain, a man's identity can be stolen and his assets severely compromised by a person on another continent he has never even met (Proverbs 20:21). We are baited with sex outside of marriage in vivid high speed, high definition color and then charge after it like an ox going to the slaughter -- little knowing it will cost us our lives (Proverbs 7:22-23).

The rapid rate at which temptation stalks us requires that we men, and our sons, have the wisdom required to survive the intensity of "necessary" temptations to avoid the minefields of unnecessary temptations and experience glorious victory. This is what God gives us in this book of Proverbs, wisdom of godly living in all these areas and more. For this reason we are covering many fronts during this retreat, knowing that our enemy has his sights on us in the many venues in which we live. Come and expect to be equipped through God's wisdom to be better victors of life and a blessing to our wives, children, church and friends!

To Prepare

Get ready by praying for all that happens at the retreat. We look for God to meet with us in a special way. Pray for all those preparing to serve whether by teaching, sharing, singing, playing instruments, conducting workshops, washing dishes, cooking, or the myriad of other things it takes to run a retreat.

What to Bring

Bring your Bible, paper, pen, sleeping bag, pillow, towel, wash cloth, soap, toothbrush, comb (and all that kind of stuff), flashlight, casual clothing, a warm jacket, hat, etc. and a heart submissive to God.

Book Table

We will have quality books and DVD's that can be a real help to your Christian life. These will be available to purchase, many at a discount.

Registration

Please register as soon as possible, preferably by March 20, so we can plan for meals, name tags, workshops, meeting areas, etc. Register online at www.efreepullman.org/upcoming-events/registration2007.html or by calling 509-334-7876. The cost is $67.

Work Crew Session

Each year the camp’s Ranger has an opportunity for us to show our appreciation through some form of service. If you are available, there will be time set aside on Saturday to shovel, split or move wood, rocks or help in some way.
